If everything goes as planned for India’s largest wired broadband service provider Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), then you could experience a free upgrade on your broadband speed. In a bid to capture more customer base and offer much better service to its existing customers, the ISP provider is planning to upgrade its base broadband speed to 4 Mbps. That’s across all broadband plans including limited and unlimited broadband plans.
Currently, BSNL is discussing the idea at the higher level and waiting for approval from authorities. The provider as of now is offering minimum 2 Mbps download speed in three of its technologies – ADSL, VDSL and FTTH.
BSNL 4 Mbps Broadband speed
- BSNL plans to upgrade its minimum broadband speed to 4 Mbps.
- Speed upgrade will be offered for free with no extra charges or rental.
- Speed upgrade on every broadband technologies – ADSL, VDSL and FTTH.
Recently BSNL relaunched its ‘Experience Unlimited BB249’ broadband plan. Under this plan, you get 10GB of data benefits per day at a speed of 2 Mbps. In addition to the data benefits, you will also be getting unlimited local and STD voice calls to any network.
If you remember, back one year ago BSNL increased the minimum broadband download speed to 1 Mbps on all unlimited broadband plans. That’s even after you hit the FUP (fair usage policy) limit. Earlier if you hit the FUP limit the speed get reduced to 512 Kbps. In addition, the provider revised and upgrade the Fair Usage Policy (FUP) limit on existing and new unlimited broadband plans.
