Making a fight against the highly competitive private telecom operators, Govt owned telecom operator Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) has introduced unlimited data add-on plans along with social data add-on packs.
BSNL customers who are addicted to the social world can make use of two URL based social data add-on packs that offers fixed monthly data for using Facebook, Twitter and Whatsapp. First social data add-on pack which is priced at Rs 40 offers customers with free 250MB 3G or 2G data usage (which ever available in your telecom circle) on Facebook, Facebook Messenger and Twitter with a validity of 30 days. The second social data add-on pack offers 200MB of free 3G or 2G data usage on Whatsapp for a monthly charge of Rs 30. Post this free usage customers will charge 1 paisa per 10 KB. This free data can be used on both browser-based url’s and on individual social apps.
In addition to the social data packs BSNL has also introduced unlimited data add-on plans for those who need to be always connected. But there is a catch, under this plans high-speed mobile internet is limited to a fixed data usage, after that connection is limited to 80Kbps for rest of the validity period. Customers can choose from two unlimited data add-on plans. First priced at Rs 240 that offers unlimited data usage for a month with high-speed usage till 1GB after that speed capped to 80Kbps for rest of the month. The second pack priced at Rs 340 offers unlimited data usage for a month with high-speed usage till 2GB after that speed capped to 80Kbps for rest of the month.
BSNL will start offering the above social data add-on packs and unlimited data add-on plans from 11th June 2014 for customers in North Zone. We can expect BSNL to soon introduce this add-on packs to rest of India.
Private telecom operator Airtel, Tata Docomo, Reliance, Idea Cellular and others have already introduced social packs for their customers.
