The government owned telecom operator BSNL has extended its free all India roaming offer for both prepaid and postpaid mobile subscribers further by one year. The offer will come into effect from 15th June 2016 and the free nationwide roaming will be available until June 2017.

BSNL extends free all India roaming for Mobile subscribers to One more Year

As announced last year by Telecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, the free national roaming offer provides BSNL mobile customers with free incoming calls while they are on roaming in any part of India. The offer is applicable all over India including in MTNL service areas – Mumbai and Delhi.

Some highlights of BSNL free all India roaming

  • Free all India roaming available for all Prepaid and Postpaid BSNL customers without any sort of recharges (the offer is provided free of cost).
  • Incoming voice calls are free during roaming.
  • Outgoing voice calls, SMS, and Data are charged as per the user’s tariff plan (Outgoing calls are charged at Rs 80 paisa per minutes and STD calls at charged at Rs 1.15 paisa per minute).
  • Voice/ISD STVs will not work in free roaming

BSNL had effectively utilised the free national roaming offer to grab more customers from other telecom operators through mobile number portability (MNP). As a result, the government operator was able to maintain the steady growth throughout the year.
