Really big change coming to India’s biggest wired broadband service provider. Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has announced a drastic upgrade for its unlimited broadband plans. Starting 1st November 2017, BSNL Broadband’s existing unlimited broadband plans to come with an initial download speed of 10Mbps.

Yup, you heard it right, BSNL Broadband want to give a tough fight to the newgen broadband providers eating up its market share. According to reports, BSNL Broadband will now offer 10Mbps base download speed on all unlimited broadband plans having a monthly rental of Rs 675 and above. For BSNL unlimited broadband plans below Rs 675, users will get an initial download speed of 8Mbps.

BSNL to increase FUP limit on Unlimited Broadband Plans

However, do note that the download speed increase is within the fair usage policy (FUP) limit of your broadband plan. After you hit the data FUP limit of your broadband plan the download speed will decrease to your broadband plans speed limit.

The one plan that’s getting a major boost with the speed increase is the “Experience Unlimited Broadband 249” plan. Just a few weeks ago, BSNL extended the validity of the plan to three more months. In addition, they also increased the data FUP limit to 5GB from earlier 1GB. Now with the broadband speed revision, the same plan will offer 8Mbps download speed till the 5GB FUP limit and beyond that unlimited data usage at 1Mbps speed.

  • BSNL Broadband has upgraded is download speed for all unlimited broadband plans.
  • The unlimited broadband plan above Rs 675 monthly rental will now have a base download speed of 10Mbps.
  • The unlimited broadband plan below Rs 675 monthly rental will now have a base download speed of 8Mbps.
  • Beyond the unlimited broadband plans data FUP limit, speed will be the same/reduced as per your plan.
  • The revision in BSNL broadband download speed will come into effect from 1st November 2017.
  • The upgrade in speed will be free and will not add anything extra to your monthly rental.

The change in download speed will be applicable to pan-India customers and broadband/DSL/FTTH (fiber broadband) unlimited plans. You won’t need to do anything to get the increase in speed. All existing and new BSNL broadband connection will be auto-upgraded to the new download speed.

Only a few months ago, BSNL Broadband upgraded the base broadband speed of all unlimited broadband plans to 4 Mbps. This seems it was only the first step by BSNL to take on other ISP providers who are luring the customers with better speed and data limit.
