If you are on BSNL broadband, then here is something to cheer about. Now onwards no more cutting down to a lower internet speed, after you hit up the FUP limit.
India’s biggest broadband service provider Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) will increase the minimum broadband download speed to 1Mbps on all unlimited broadband plans, even after you hit the FUP (fair usage policy) limit. Currently, the minimum download speed is set to 512Kbps if you cross the FUP limit.
The new bandwidth (download speed) limit will come into effect from August 1st, 2016 on PAN India basis in every telecom circle. The revision will be applicable to all existing as well as new subscribers of BSNL unlimited broadband plans including unlimited FUP Broadband plans and FTTH plans with post-FUP speed of 512Kbps.

A few days back only BSNL revised and upgraded the FUP limit on several unlimited broadband plans, giving users up to 10 GB of extra usage on high-speed quota before hitting the FUP limit.
This is a welcome move from India’s largest broadband providers BSNL as the 512Kbps minimum broadband speed was set way back in 2012 after the approval of National Telecom Policy 2012.
Time has changed and we are in an era of 4G (or even 5G) that offers super-high download speeds. Our data consumption has increased hundreds of time with people watching more videos, listening to music and image-heavy websites. So to keep up with the data heavy usage we need a consistent internet speed and today it’s a bold step from BSNL.
