Yet another exciting news for Baahubali fanatics, “Baahubali: The Game” is finally here. Yes, you heard it right. Developed by Moonfrog, the game is now available for Android, iOS users have to wait for a bit. The game is released as a part of movie promo. But based on user feedback, the team will develop it further.
Gameplay
The game doesn’t retell you the movie, so there are no spoilers. This is a kind of freemium strategy game, and you might find striking similarities with existing games like Clash Of Clans. In the game, you are the Senapati (Commander) of empire Mahishmati. King Baahubali will be guiding you through the basic set up of empire Mahishmati. Later you’ve to progress forward by joining forces with Baahubali, Kattappa, Bhallaladeva, Devasena to push back the ruthless Kalakeya.
The game offers in-app purchases and upgrades for building the empire. These include treasure, resources, decorations, army, defences, shields. But these purchases are optional unless you want to speed up the progress. Apart from gems, every other resource can be mined, harvested and build. The army unlockables include heroes like Baahubali, Kattappa and Bhallaladeva with unique abilities. In addition, the battle troops include war elephants, catapults, priests, and thieves. While battling, you can use spells and rally to aid the troops. On the defensive side, the game has spear and archer towers, spike and snake traps, and arrow machines.
We tried the campaign and PvP battles and really enjoyed it. Once the embassy is rebuilt, players can also join or create alliances. An alliance can have up to 50 members, including a leader, co-leaders and elders. Within an alliance, players can request for reinforcements, participate in wars and earn stars.
Overall
The gameplay isn’t fluid, especially the character movements. Our intuition says the current game servers aren’t well equipped to meet the demand. The game’s noticeable resemblance with the clash of clans might land the developers in trouble. However, the game is enjoyable and we give it a 3.5 out of 5 rating. We can expect the game to get better with future updates. If you are a Baahubali fan, do check out the game and share your experience. Peace!
