Apple customers in India can now buy from the incredible collection of local and international music from all the major labels and thousands of independent labels. Customers can also purchase Movies or rent out Movies using iTunes.

iTunes Store in India features great collection of music and one can grab a single song at a price as low as Rs 7, albums being priced between RS 70 to Rs 108. Currently iTunes stores got songs from Bollywood and Tamil film tracks along with International music. All music on the iTunes Store comes in iTunes Plus, Apple’s DRM-free format with high-quality 256 kbps AAC encoding. Customers can choose from over 20 million songs available to purchase and download on the iTunes Store.

In addition, music not purchased from the iTunes Store can be stored in the cloud using the iTunes Match, a service that stores users entire music library in iCloud for access at any time, from any iOS device.

Movies are priced between Rs 190 to Rs 50o if you looking to buy one, instead you can rent the movies at a much lower price starting from Rs 80. iTunes Store got great collection of movies from major studios including 20th Century Fox, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, The Walt Disney Studios and Warner Bros. Pictures, as well as leading local distributors. For Indians to get started latest Bollywood hit  Ek Tha Tiger currently available for purchase at Rs 290 and can be rented out for Rs 120 (one time).

One lacking thing on iTunes Store is TV shows, which is currently only available in US. Besides India, Russia, Turkey, South Africa and 51 additional countries got access to the iTunes Store.

With the iTunes store launched in India it may compete against similar offering from Flipkart’s Flyte, Nokia Music Store, Saavn, Gaana etc. As Apple products are priced premium, the impact of iTunes Store will be minimal.
