All the rumours and leaks came true, Apple has come up with bigger screens for their next generation smartphones – the iPhone 6 with 4.7 inch display and iPhone 6 Plus with 5.5 inch display. They now come with unibody aluminium frames, more slimmer, retina HD displays, new powerful A8 chip, latest iOS 8 operating system and of-course more costlier.
With competition from the Android side coming up with bigger and bigger screens every day, Apple seems to be now catching up on that. The new Apple iPhone 6 spots a 4.7 inch retina HD display with a resolution of 1334 x 750 pixels whereas Apple iPhone 6 Plus got much bigger display of 5.5 inch retina HD display with full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. Both iPhones are made up of anodized aluminum, stainless steel, and glass resulting in a smooth and continuous surface.
Both the iPhone’s now runs on the second generation 64 bit A8 chip that’s offers up to 50x faster the CPU performance and up to 84x faster GPU performance when compared to the original iPhone. A8 chip uses an advanced 20 nanometer process and hold two billion transistors. Both models also include M8 motion coprocessor, that works with fitness and health tracking features.
On the camera side, iPhone 6’s both models still comes with the 8 megapixel camera but more advanced with a large 1.5-micron pixels and ƒ/2.2 aperture. Its new sensor features focus pixels that allows faster autofocus and also include burst mode and HDR video. It now comes with faster frame rate up to 60fps for full HD 1080p videos and 240fps for slo-mo videos along with continuous autofocus, cinematic video stabilization and time-lapse video.
On the connectivity side iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus comes with 4G LTE with support for high-quality voice calls over LTE (VoLTE) as well as Wi-Fi calling. The 4G LTE wireless band will work with Indian networks including Airtel and Reliance Jio. In-addition it also support 3G, 2G networks along with WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0. For the first the iPhones will come with NFC (Near-field-communication) that will be used with Apple’s new payment or wallet service called Apply Pay.
On the software side the iPhone’s runs on the latest iOS 8 operating system that comes with new Messages and Photos features along with Apple’s QuickType keyboard and Family Sharing. It also includes Health app that collects data from M8 motion coprocessor and offers overview of ones health and fitness data. For older iPhones the new iOS 8 will be available from September 17 2014.

Now the costlier side or the pricing side iPhone 6 will start at $199 for the 16GB variant and iPhone 6 Plus will start at $299 for the 16GB variant, they both under subsidized by US carriers. Apple has not revealed the pricing for new iPhone’s in India but we can expect the price tag to be around 45K for iPhone 6 and Rs 55K for the bigger iPhone 6 Plus. The smartphone will go for sales in the United States on September 19 2014 and will be available on India from October 17 2014.
