As everyone excepted Apple‘s next generation iPhone 5s and budget friendly iPhone 5c sales skyrocketed in the opening weekend. Apple has announced that within 3 days of availability of the new iPhones on September 20 sales topped more than 9 million devices. A record-breaking sales for Apple, as in last year only 5 million devices were sold during the launch of iPhone 5 over the opening weekend.
Apple won’t say how many individual iPhone 5s, 5c models are sold during this time, but media reports suggest next-gen iPhone 5s being more popular than plastic colorful iPhone 5c. Both iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c were launched in US, Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Puerto Rico, Singapore and the UK. Apple is also facing slight constrain over the iPhone 5s sales as demand has exceeded the initial supply, and many online orders are scheduled to be shipped in the coming weeks.
“This is our best iPhone launch yet?more than nine million new iPhones sold?a new record for first weekend sales, The demand for the new iPhones has been incredible, and while we’ve sold out of our initial supply of iPhone 5s, stores continue to receive new iPhone shipments regularly. We appreciate everyone’s patience and are working hard to build enough new iPhones for everyone.” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO.
In-addition more than 200million devices has already upgraded to the latest iOS 7 mobile operating system. The completely overhauled iOS 7 has a new user interface, completely redesigned with an elegant color palette, distinct, functional layers and subtle motion. It also include the all new Control Center, Notification Center, improved Multitasking, AirDrop, enhanced Photos, Safari, Siri and introduces iTunes Radio, a free Internet radio service based on the music you listen to on iTunes.
