Amazon has launched the upgraded all-new Kindle e-reader in India, which will replace the current entry-level Kindle model launched way back in 2014. Priced still at Rs 5,999 the new Kindle e-reader is up for pre-order on Amazon India which will start shipping from 7th July 2016.
Coming to the design aspect, the new Kindle has become 11% thinner with now just 9.1mm thick and 16% lighter, weighing 161 grams. The new Kindle e-reader got a 6-inch E Ink Pearl touch display with a pixel density of 167 ppi. The high contrast touchscreen display eliminates glare even on bright sunlight.
Under the hood, the new Kindle comes with a 512 MB RAM and twice the storage capacity of 8GB that can now hold thousands of e-books. It also got a mega battery life that will last for weeks.
On the new Kindle users can easily take notes that can be sent as PDF or exported directly to their desktop. Share highlighted sections from a book to their e-mail and share meaningful quotes from books on Facebook, Twitter, and Goodreads.
The new Kindle now comes with built-in Bluetooth audio support, allowing visually impaired users to use the VoiceView screen reader feature to read aloud the book or content on the screen.
Best of all Amazon now offers Kindle Unlimited subscription service which offers over three million books, including latest bestsellers, Kindle exclusives and more. The subscription starts at Rs 199 per month and one can save by subscribing for 6 or 12 months.
