Improving the speed with its V-Fiber broadband service, India’s top telecom operator and second largest internet service provider Airtel has regained the top position by offering the fastest streaming speed for watching your favourite TV shows and movies on Netflix.

In the leaderboard for January 2017, Airtel offered a consistent speed of 2.25 Mbps and topped the chart. Whereas Spectranet was pushed to the second spot which offered a slightly slower speed of 2.10 Mbps. It should be noted that both Airtel and Spectranet have their speed diminished when compared to the previous month.
In the third spot, we have 7 Star Digital with 2.06 Mbps speed. Whereas in the fourth spot, ATRIA Convergence Technologies clocked a speed of 2 Mbps. Hathway and YOU Broadband follows the pack with 1.93 Mbps and 1.84 Mbps speed respectively. Reliance Communications has considerably drop down the list from its fifth position in September 2016 Netflix ISP Speed Index, to now at the 8th position. India’s biggest and government-owned broadband service provider BSNL ranks the last with 1.09 Mbps speed.

So what’s Netflix ISP Speed Index? It a list of average prime time bitrate for Netflix content streamed to Netflix users during a particular month. The prime time here been calculated by the average bitrate of Netflix content in megabits per second (Mbps) streamed by Netflix users per ISP. Do note that speed indicated in the Speed Index is not a measure of the maximum capacity of an ISP. It only a calculation of speed in streaming Netflix content via the ISP.
