The war has begun, with Reliance Communication starting it by bringing down its 3G data rates in par with 2G data rates, India’s top telecom operator Bharti Airtel following the suite by slashing its 3G data rates by around 50 percent and bringing it in par with 2G data plans.
Update – It seems the below 3G offer is a limited time promotional scheme to lure customers to try out Airtel’s 3G services and only provided to a handful of selected customer base across India. Airtel has not officially slashed the 3G data rates, as of now.
Airtel now offers 3G mobile internet data plans at Rs 124 for 1GB of data usage on high-speed 3G network with a validity of one month. The new revised 3G data plans are applicable to both prepaid and postpaid customers across India, with small price change in the data plans in different telecom circles. The new 3G data plans seems to be offered as a promotional scheme to customers for a limited time. Here the message we got from Airtel network –
Earlier this month it was the 2G data war among telecom operators including Vodafone, Airtel, Idea Cellular and Tata Docomo, who slashed 2G data rates by around 90%. With RCom and Airtel making the first move by cutting 3G data rates, we can except other telecom operators to follow the same path.
