Is your voice calling from Jio to India top telecom operator Airtel falling out? Well, this situation may get solved soon.
After Idea Cellular opening up more points of interconnect to Reliance Jio, the largest telecom operator, Bharti Airtel has said to offer additional points of interconnect (POIs) to Reliance Jio. This will in-turn benefit the Jio customers who are currently on the Jio welcome offer and getting unlimited free voice calling to anywhere and any network in India.
The total POIs will now become three times the current given POIs, which in turn can serve more than 15 million Jio subscribers now.
“Airtel is a responsible organisation committed to complying with the regulations and the Interconnect Agreements in letter and spirit and will continue to be so.” said the company press release. “Based on the current traffic pattern with all other operators, this capacity is sufficient to serve over 15 million customers, which is significantly higher than Jio’s existing customer base”. it added.
But Airtel has said it would also need to take cognizance of the massive asymmetry in the volume of traffic between the two networks and ensure that the quality of service for Airtel customers is not impacted.
The operator has also approached Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) to look into this issue.
