Airtel Mediphone Medical service

Airtel, India’s top telecom providers introduced its pan India customers to Mediphone service, a health care advice service on the mobile phone. Mediphone, is a 24X7 “Medical advice on phone” service. Airtel aims to provide best-in-class tele-triage services (Tele triage is a safe and effective way of providing health care advice delivered by health care professionals via the telephone) to its customers by leveraging cellular technology and providing a convenient platform to the healthcare ecosystem to deliver quality healthcare services. Airtel has formed a strategic alliance with Healthfore (a division of Religare Technologies Ltd.) to provide the Mediphone services.

Mediphone provides immediate care for Non Acute Minor Ailments with appropriate advice. In case of Medical need, nothing is more comforting than having an experienced, compassionate doctor and nurses available when you need them and from where you are. The Mediphone service provides a protocol driven, robust, time tested and reliable service, based on a platform in use for over 20 years in Australia, New Zealand and several other counties. The clinical protocols are developed by specialist doctors across the globe and customised as per the needs of Indian healthcare scenario. Healthfore uses a clinical decision support solution from Medibank Health Solutions, Australia called “Care Enhance Call Center”, which has been use globally for more than 20 years. The service is staffed by accredited Doctors and Nurses for reliable quality healthcare advice on their mobile phone anytime, anywhere.

To access this service the customer simply has to call 54445 from your Airtel mobile phone and an IVR will connect to a qualified medical practitioner. SMS of the advice offered will be sent to the customers. After validation by qualified MBBS & MCI registered doctors.

Airtel Mediphone Procedure

Airtel customers need to call the mediphone short code 54445. The call is answered by a Healthfore’s Health officer (HO) who is a trained and accredited Nurse or a Doctor. In case of a first time caller, the HO registers the caller, capture the clinical history and other relevant information using decision support solution. The caller is provided with an appropriate care advice and recommendation through SMS. All the cases are reviewed by Medical officer, who is MBBS or MD before care recommendations are sent out. All the doctors are accredited with Medical Council of India or equivalent State Medical Councils.

As a part of a special Introductory offer, customers will be charged Rs 15 per call/consultation. (Limited period till 2nd January 2012), 3rd January onwards, the cost of each consultation is Rs. 35. The charges are reflected in bill (postpaid) or deducted from account balance (prepaid). Also call connect charges of 50paise will be additional.
