Update: Airtel has issued an official statement on the outage “There was a network outage in the Western region this morning as a result of a fire in our central POP (point of presence) location in Malad, Mumbai.
Our teams have been working since morning to normalize all affected services. Mobile voice, Blackberry and SMS services have largely been restored and are stabilizing. We are working towards restoring 2G & 3G data services later tonight. However, for the Enterprise services like IPLC, Leased lines, MPLS and Internet services, the restoration work is in progress and these services are likely to be restored in the next 24 hours. We deeply regret the inconvenience caused to our customers.“

There has been report from lots of users across western part of India,who are facing connectivity issue with Airtel. Inda’s top telecom service provider seems to be facing some sorts of technical glitch, causing mass connectivity issue in some parts of India.
Airtel has confirmed this report in Twitter saying “Some Airtel customers may be experiencing connectivity issues due to an unforeseen technical outage on some circuits in Western region….“

Form today morning many users in the western region are facing this issue with network connectivity, causing complete blackout. Airtel customers seems not able to make calls,send messages and use internet services (GPRS/EDGE/3G).
As said on their twitter account, Airtel is trying hard to solve this issue as soon as possible. You can follow Airtel on Twitter for more updates.
