In an event held at Chennai, India’s first MVNO (Mobile Virtual Network Operator) Aerovoyce has soft-launched its telecom service to the public. Currently, the operator is rolling out its service in Tamil Nadu/Chennai telecom circles including Pondicherry.
Those who are hearing MVNO for the first time, companies with MVNO license can provide mobile services including voice and data services under their own brands to customers without owning any spectrum or mobile infrastructure. These service providers actually buy voice minutes, SMS and data bandwidth in bulk from multiple (or single) telecom operators and then resells them to customers.
So what you are getting? During the soft launch, Aerovoyce will be offering a free SIM, although in a very limited number. You could get hands on the SIM from AEROVOYCE’s distributors and retail network across Chennai.
Currently, it seems there are no monthly plans announced by Aerovoyce. As the services in a soft launch, you will get unlimited voice calling, unlimited SMS and unlimited data usage with the mobile connection. Don’t expect 4G speeds on the network as the service is powered by Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL).
“Will offer unlimited free voice calls and data for a limited period subject to the conditions of AEROVOYCE, the Regulators and our MNO partner BSNL,” said AEROVOYCE in a press release.
Back eight months ago, Aerovoyce started offering international calling services along with fiber broadband internet service to customers. International calling SIM cards were priced at $15 or around Rs 1000. Under this, you will get 100 minutes of talk value and 50MB of data benefits. The operator also offered unlimited fiber broadband with speed up to 150 Mbps.
