After thousands of rumors and leaks, during the unpacked 2013 event held in Berlin Germany, Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Gear wearable smartwatch. A stylish premium watch with smart features like 1.63 inch Super AMOLED display, 800 MHz processor, a 1.9 Megapixel camera and a dozen of Samsung Apps. With lots of features it also comes with a major downside, Galaxy Gear is only compatible with Galaxy smartphones mainly the latest Galaxy Note 3, Galaxy S4, Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2.
Samsung Galaxy Gear allow users to stay connected with their Galaxy smartphones. It notifies users of incoming messages, such as calls, texts, emails and alerts. It shows a preview of those messages and let users to accept or discreetly ignore those messages right from the Gear. For hands-free usage Galaxy Gear has built-in speaker that allow users to communicate with the Gear and do various task such as call by speaking into the GALAXY Gear, send messages, add new calendar entries, set alarm and check weather.
Samsung Galaxy Gear spots a 1.63 inch Super AMOLED display with a pixel resolution of 320 x 320. Its powered by a 800 MHz processor with 512 MB RAM. It got a 1.9 megapixel camera on the wrist that can take photos and videos and share them to social networks. With Voice Memo users can save voice recordings into texts on their Samsung GALAXY devices.
Galaxy Gear carries a bunch of extra features like Auto Lock that automatically secures the companion smartphone screen any time that GALAXY Gear is more than 1.5 meters away from the smartphone and then unlocks the smartphone when the companion devices are near each other again. Find My Device that allow to track their smartphones when they have been stolen or misplaced by making them beep, illuminate and vibrate. For health conscious people Galaxy Gear has built-in Pedometer to track physical activity via enhanced, built-in sensor technology, that can track personal data such as calories burned, steps taken and distance covered.

Samsung allow developers to build apps for Galaxy Gear that are distributed through Samsung Hub instead of Google Play sore. Some of the third-party apps include Evernote, eBay, Line messaging app, Banjo, Atooma and more.
Samsung GALAXY Gear comes in six colors mainly Jet Black, Mocha Gray, Wild Orange, Oatmeal Beige, Rose Gold, and Lime Green. It will be launched in more than 140 countries including India from September 25, 2013.
