It’s time for more affordable 3G mobile internet, as Reliance Communications (RCom) has cut the rates for 3G data plans by around 50 percent bring it par with existing 2G data plans. An aggressive move by RCom to wow the Indian price conscious mobile subscribers and to bring in the mass subscriber to its 3G network. RCom is currently teasing a banner on its website for unveiling this new 3G data plans.
New revised 3G data plans starts from Rs 123 data pack which offers 1GB data usage on high-speed 3G network with a validity of 30 days, Rs 246 data pack offering subscribers with 2GB of 3G data usage and Rs 492 data pack offering 4GB of 3G data usage. In addition to attract customers from other operators through mobile number portability (MNP), RCom will be offering 1GB of 3GB data usage free per month for two months.
By this RCom has brought 3G and 2G data rates on same price with only small fractional difference between two. It’s excepted that RCom will also automatically upgrade its 2G data subscribers to 3G plans, providing high-speed mobile internet under the same 2G data plan pricing. The new 3G data rates applies to both prepaid and postpaid customer across India, with small price change in the data plans in different telecom circles.
Earlier this month we have seen an 2G data war among most of the telecom operators including Vodafone, Airtel, Idea Cellular and Tata Docomo, who have slashed 2G data rates by around 90%. With RCom’s making the first move by cutting 3G data rates, we can except other telecom operators to follow the same path.
