Bringing all the best hardware and software in one pack, Samsung has official unpacked its next-generation Note phablet – Galaxy Note 5. Featuring 5.7-inch QHD display, Exynos 64-bit octa-core processor, 4GB RAM, redesigned S Pen stylus, 16MP camera module, 4G LTE support and out-of-the-box Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS.
Along with Galaxy Note 5, Samsung also announced the Galaxy S6 edge+ that has way similar hardware specification of Note 5, but with dual edge display like Galaxy S6 edge and without an S Pen stylus.
Coming back to the Samsung Galaxy Note 5, it takes most of the design aspect from Galaxy S6 with its narrower bezel and curved back, making it comfortable to fit in one hand. Brining deeper screen contrast and details Galaxy Note 5 flaunts a 5.7-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 2560×1440 pixels and 518ppi. Under the hood, the phablet got Exynos 7422 64-bit octa-core ( 2.1GHz Cortex-A57 quad-core + 1.5GHz Cortex-A53 quad-core) processor paired with 4GB LPDDR4 RAM (OnePlus 2 was the first smartphone to have this). It comes in 32GB and 64GB internal storage variant, removing the previous 128GB storage options available in Note 4.
On the photography front, Galaxy Note 5 features a 16-megapixel rear camera with Samsung’s advanced camera system that also include Video Digital Image Stabilization along with Smart Optical Image Stabilization. On the connectivity side, Note 5 include a single-SIM wide range 4G LTE support (4G Indian band supported) along with 3G and 2G network support along with WiFi, Bluetooth, NFC and USB 2.0. The phablet runs on latest Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS with TouchWiz UI on top.
Another major improvement is with the new S Pen, that’s now build to feel more solid and balanced in the user’s hand along with improved writing capabilities and a variety of practical tools. It comes with a slew of dedicated apps like Air Command, Scroll capture, Smart select, Screen Write and others.
Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 edge+ will go on sale in the US and Canada on August 21, 2015, and will be soon launched in India.
