BSNL see massive Subscriber loss , Broadband subscribers cross 55.2 Million [TRAI December 2013 report]

Previous time it was Tata Docomo who were losing subscribers, this time Govt owned telecom operator BSNL see massive subscriber loss. According to the latest telecom subscription data as on 31st December, 2013 released by Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), BSNL loss around 2.04 million subscribers during the period of one month. The main loss of subscribers are from the Bihar, Orissa, North East and West Bengal telecom circles.

Other than BSNL, Tata Docomo and Loop where the only telecom operators losing subscribers from their network. On the other hand Vodafone India added maximum number of subscribers to its network by around 2.3 million, followed by Bharti Airtel with 1.8 million subscribers and Aircel with 1.6 million subscribers.

Total wireless subscriber base which include GSM, CDMA and FWP subscribers increased from 881.13 million in November, 2013 to 886.30 million at the end of December 2013, registering a monthly growth of 0.59%. Overall taking the total number of telephone subscribers in India which include both wireless and wireline increased from 910.14 million at the end of November, 2013 to 915.19 million at the end of December 2013.

Bharti Airtel retained its top position with 22.39% of the Indian telecom market share, followed by Vodafone India with 18.10% market share and Idea Cellular in the third position with 14.52 % market share.

109.37 million subscribers used MNP

Mobile Number Portability requests increased from 106.87 million subscribers at the end of November, 2013 to 109.87 million at the end of December 2013. In the month of December 2013 alone 2.50 million requests have been made for MNP. Maximum number of MNP request have been received from Karnataka by around 12.5 million, followed by Rajasthan with 10.9 million and Andhra Pradesh with 10 million.

Indian Broadband users (Wired+Wireless) cross 55.2 Million

This time TRAI calculated both wireline and wireless providers offering internet at a minimum downloading speed of 512 Kbps under Broadband services. According to the latest report there are 55.20 Million Broadband subscribers in the country at the end of December, 2013. The data include subscribers from normal wired connection, wireless subscribers using mobile devices and dongles, and other wireless connection including Wi-Fi, Wi-Max, Point-to-Point Radio & VSAT.

BSNL tops in the wired broadband market with 9.98 million subscribers, followed by Bharti Airtel with 1.39 million subscribers and MTNL with 1.11 million subscribers. On the Wirless broadband service Bharti Airtel tops the chart with 9.49 million subscribers, followed by Reliance communication with 6.86 million subscribers and BSNl with 6.55 million subscribers.
