Now expect more coverage and range for your Airtel connection, as India’s top telecom operator Bharti Airtel is said to acquire Videocon Telecom‘s spectrum in six telecom circles in a Rs 4,428 crore worth deal.

The deal came just after the government liberalized the trading and sharing of airwaves among telecom operators to meet up their demands on scarce airwaves.

According to a notice submitted by Bharti Airtel to Bombay Stock Exchange, the company will be acquiring Videocon Telecom’s 2×5 MHz radio frequency spectrum under the 1800 MHz Band, in six telecom circles including Gujarat, Bihar, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh (East) and Uttar Pradesh (West). The spectrum allocation in these circles is valid up to December 18, 2032.

This deal came just a day after Idea Cellular terminated its spectrum trading with Videocon on two telecom circles including Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh (West), signed for Rs 3310 crore during November 2015.
