After a year-long blackout from the desktop web world and getting a plump in its sales and traffic, Flipkart owned online fashion portal Myntra has relaunched its desktop website [myntra.com].
The revamped and relaunched Myntra desktop website is already live and will go along with its own mobile website which was relaunched in Febrarury 2016.
Last year the fashion portal Myntra has taken a bold step to fully shut down its desktop and mobile websites and to become the first app-only retailer in India. At first, the app-only strategy was praised as around 85% of Myntra’s sale was happening through its mobile app. But within months lot of frustrations grow up among its customers, as they didn’t really buy the idea of browsing fashion products on small screen and a single app with limited choice.
Myntra witnessed both drop in sales and traffic with its app-only strategy. This forced them to relaunch the mobile website in February and now complete relaunch of the desktop website too.
“It was a bold experiment, but all such moves are not right and we accept that. There is a segment of Indian consumers which is looking to make purchases over desktops and we wanted to give them the choice,” said Ananth Narayanan, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Myntra.
For the relaunch, Myntra has completely rebuilt the website from scratch to be responsive that works across all devices like desktop PC, laptops, mobile phone and tablets. Product images are optimized to crisp in both retina display on Macs and normal devices without impacting performance.
“We feel a large screen experience will complement the mobile app that you use on the move. We’ve been doing our part in making you look good for close to a decade now. Here’s to the next one!” said Ananth Narayanan, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Myntra on official blog.
Myntra’s parent company Flipkart too recently relaunched its mobile website – Flipkart Lite with the help of Chrome team.
